Renesas Electronics has announced a new partnership with Altium, LLC, aimed at streamlining the development of all printed circuit board (PCB) designs on the cloud platform Altium 365. Renesas currently uses a variety of PCB design tools, which have been brought into the company through acquisitions of other firms. This has led to a lack of standardization, which the new partnership with Altium aims to address. By implementing a unified PCB design tool, Renesas hopes to simplify circuit board design, reduce design complexity, improve system cost structure, and accelerate time to market for products.

Renesas's "successful product portfolio" provides an engineering-verified solution that integrates embedded processing, analog, power, and connectivity products, allowing customers to realize their design concepts, shorten product development cycles, and reduce the overall risk of bringing designs to market. With Altium 365, users can collaborate with design stakeholders and other participants while ensuring IP security and keeping designs under version control. Renesas will publish the ECAD libraries for all its products on the Altium Public Vault, allowing customers to directly select Renesas components from the Altium library to shorten time to market for products.

The migration of ECAD tools is an important step in Renesas's development process, and the company is committed to digital transformation and streamlining customer design processes. The partnership with Altium is part of Renesas's wider market strategy, which involves rapid access to the Internet of Things and other strategic initiatives. The coordination of this development workflow will make it possible for internal global collaboration and make it easier for customers to integrate Renesas's products and solutions into their systems.

Altium is proud that Renesas has chosen Altium 365 as its preferred platform for PCB tools, and the two companies look forward to working together to create high-quality comprehensive solutions at a faster speed and lower cost than ever before. While Renesas will continue to provide support for customers using ECAD design platforms other than Altium, the unification of ECAD tools is the first step in the partnership between Renesas and Altium.
