Description
The TPS6302x devices offer a power supply solution for products that use a two-cell or three-cell alkaline, NiCd, or NiMH battery, a one-cell Li-ion or Li-polymer battery, supercapacitors, or other supply rails. Up to 3 A of output current are supported. When using batteries, they can be depleted to less than 2 volts. To achieve optimal efficiency, the buck-boost converter is based on a fixed frequency, pulse width modulation (PWM) controller with synchronous rectification. To maintain high efficiency over a wide range of load currents, the converter enters power save mode at low load currents. When the power save mode is off, the converter is forced to run at a fixed switching frequency.
The maximum average current in the switches is typically limited to 4 A.
The output voltage can be programmed using an external resistor divider or is fixed on the device. To reduce battery consumption, the converter can be turned off.
The load is separated from the battery during shutdown.
The TPS6302x devices work in the –40°C to 85°C free air temperature range.
The devices are housed in a 14-pin VSON package with dimensions of 3 mm 4 mm (DSJ).
